Both equally want to totally and completely destroy you and your life and everything that has anything to do with you irreversibly and beyond repair for good. And they are equally motivated to do so. And both have the same relentless burning desire to destroy you and everything that is good in this world, no matter what, with the same magnitude and amount of desire and intention to do so. They are however, different in other aspects explained below.
As far as you’re concerned, both narcissists and psychopaths are equally immoral and evil.
Both harbour the same magnitude of ill intent towards you. Both equally want to harm you the exact same way and in the exact same amount and magnitude.
It is just that one type is deterred by social repercussions and legal action and the other one isn’t.
A narcissist stops for fear of negative consequences, whether from society or from the legal system. They will not do the thing as long as they are going to suffer for it negatively afterwards in a way that significantly ruins their lives.
A sociopath and a psychopath will not be deterred by any negative consequences whatsoever, because you can’t harm them no matter what you do, because they don’t exist. This is not fearlessness, this is non-existence. Which means they will stop at nothing to completely destroy you and your life beyond repair for good.
The narcissist also wants to do the same evil and harm upon you, but they will stop if they think others will severely punish them if they do.
This is a very important distinction because most people think that if your abusive partner or whatever is violent or exercises physical or sexual abuse upon you, you should immediately run away for your life and safety and seek legal help right away.
But if your abuser is not that violent, take your time and use those tactics like the grey rock method or observe and do not absorb method or whatever to survive in the meantime, because your situation isn’t that dangerous and you have all the time in the world to survive under narcissistic abuse indefinitely until you can save yourself someday and go full, total, and complete no contact.
I laugh at this.
Because there’s no such thing as a non-violent narcissist. They are all as violent, immoral, and evil as a psychopath could ever be.
Narcissists take the shape of the container. They behave within the confines of what they’re allowed to do and what they can get away with. That’s why you see the sudden instant switch back to their evil self the second people leave you and you are alone with the narcissist again. As long as there are no negative consequences whatsoever for their crimes or evil or immoral actions, they will be as criminal, evil, and immoral as humanly possible, exactly like a psychopath, and at the same level and extent.
They are not less violent or criminal.
They are just afraid of ending up in jail or prison. They are afraid of what’s going to happen to them if all others, and not just you, are fully aware of how bad they actually are.
A psychopath is too unimportant to fear any consequences whatsoever because they themselves don’t matter anymore, not even to themselves. We see this happen in major depressive disorder for example. The I don’t matter belief, which leads to crushing low self-esteem. For the depressed person it feels real. The belief that I don’t matter feels real and genuine, and not just like a random negative thought. Even if it is not necessarily true that they, the depressed individual, does not matter. But in the case of the psychopath, it is true. And because it is an objectively true statement that the psychopath doesn’t matter, no negative consequence there is could be considered a bad thing if it were to happen to them. It is fact, and they are totally aware of it. It is not fearlessness, but absence of importance. They don’t matter, and they know it. And that’s why they don’t care if something bad happens to them. It’s always a win-win for them if they destroyed themselves and you as well along the way, because the end result is only you lost something, because only you matter, and only you exist. Since the psychopath doesn’t matter and doesn’t exist, nothing bad really happened or could ever happen to them. Only you lost. And hence the apparent pseudo-fearlessness we see in case of the psychopath.
The fact that the psychopath does not matter, is infinitely unimportant and insignificant, and totally doesn’t exist, like absolute and total vacuum, is objectively true, and nothing can ever change that fact for good, no matter what. That’s why the psychopath is not a patient with major depressive disorder, even if they have depression. Their self-loathing is real, and for right reasons, not just in their heads because of the disorder, unlike patients with major depressive disorder.
A narcissist however, wants to maintain the delusion in their heads and their false self by any means necessary. Part of that delusion is a psychotic level of belief that they are important and the most important thing that ever existed. The truth is still the exact opposite of that, to a mind-blowing level, though. They are the most unimportant thing that has ever existed and could ever exist. But their delusions are at a psychotic level they believe in it so strongly in the absence of anything whatsoever that could support such grandiose beliefs of themselves or be considered some sort of at least partial evidence for that by any sane individual. Getting caught makes them a little bit skeptical and doubtful when it comes to their delusional beliefs about themselves, and so they will be constantly trying to move mountains in order to make sure that never happens.
That’s why they don’t resort to violence, in case it is illegal and can get them into trouble for it. They will be totally non-violent not because they are peaceful harmless creatures who are only capable of emotional abuse, but because they don’t want to go to jail or prison because of this. Whatever that they can do to you that harms you in any way imaginable they will do it, as long as they will suffer no negative consequences whatsoever for it afterwards, no matter what it is. They take the shape of the container like water. Whatsoever that is allowed, will be done, as long as no one sees it, and they can get away with it.
Both are equally malevolent. Run for your lives.
No contact, no matter what.
