Whatever the self means in psychology, when you have low self-esteem, that self collapses on its own every few minutes all day long.
Collapse is the most accurate word that describes it. After that collapse, you cease to exist, and then you have to chase anything that can give you a little bit of dopamine to be able to reach minimal level of functioning.
Don’t become like those who think psychology is wrongly consumed by the importance of self-esteem because they are far leftist snowflakes somehow. They are right about self-esteem.
And it is not synonymous with self-confidence, arrogance, or being selfish or self-absorbed. It’s the further step of there’s nothing wrong with you, which is the core of embracing all your parts without disowning any of them. It’s even better because instead of eliminating the negative, you establish the positive. You establish that you are good, perhaps even great. Instead of understanding that there’s nothing wrong with you only, it means everything is right with you, and is more than enough.
The self, whatever the self means in psychology, is important.
Self-esteem is important. Whomever tells you otherwise does not know what they’re talking about.
Work on your self-esteem. You are nothing without it.
